New Roots produce delicious fruit and vegetables and herbs on the Moulsecoomb Allotments on Natal Road.
They follow organic growing methods using permaculture principles. They distribute produce evenly among volunteers: older people, low waged, single parents and students.
The project gives people stuck in deprived areas the chance to access nature on their doorstep and learn about growing their own organic crops. Their gardening ethos is to work with nature and they actively seek to encourage all forms of wildlife and birds to the plot.
