We Build Brighton CIC

You are accessing the Brighton & Hove Food Partnership website directory – we don’t run the projects listed, we share their details to help people find local services. This page is kept updated regularly by the Food Partnership team, but please use the contact details on the listing if needed to ensure you get the most up-to-date details for this project.

We Build Brighton CIC is a new community project for people who live in Brighton and are passionate about engaging with the physical environment in a meaningful way through building, growing, and cooking.

From 23rd March 2025 they will run Sunday sessions at Natal Road Allotment Plot 132, providing a space for the community to come together, explore the circular economy, share skills and collaborate.

To join, contact We Build Brighton CIC or book your place via the EventBrite (free, but booking is essential and donations are welcome).

Lucy, the founder and director of We Build Brighton CIC, is a trans-disciplinary designer, maker, educator, and allotmenteer with a real passion for working with the local environment. Through this platform, she hopes to collaborate further with the Brighton community on projects ranging from small collaborative builds and growing food to cooking and community events.

When:

  • Sundays

Every Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm (except the last Sunday of the month), launching on Sunday, March 23rd, 2025.
Sessions are free with donations welcome but *BOOKING IS REQUIRED* for them to know who and how many people are coming to sessions and how much lunch to cook.

Facilities:

The site offers several on-site facilities, including a storage shed, greenhouse, food preparation area, and basic toilet and hand-washing facilities.

It is important to note that the allotment site is situated on a slight gradient and, by its nature, presents certain hazards. These include open fires, ponds, fungi, insects, and uneven or slippery ground.

If an individual requires a carer, that carer must be present and provide full attendance throughout the duration of the session.

IMPORTANT NOTE: There is limited parking on site and in the area so if possible please travel via foot, bike or public transport.
15minute walk from Moulsecoomb station
5minute walk from Bus Stop on Lewes Road

Audience and Access:

It is for everyone and is open to all local residents of Brighton and Hove (aged 18+). This is intentionally open to a mixed group of general population with the belief that everyone has something to offer in creating a rich space for learning and skill sharing.

Volunteers Needed:

Any volunteers who wish to come and support the running of sessions are always more than welcome, so please email Lucy.

How to Donate Money:

Donations welcome via the website.
