Brunch Bunch club for adults with learning disabilities
About this class
Who’s this for? We are running a monthly cookery club at the Community Kitchen for people with learning disabilities to learn cooking skills and new recipes in a sociable setting.
Our ‘Brunch Bunch’ sessions will cook a light, mid-morning meal together. We will learn simple recipes for tasty breakfasts and light lunches, such as: pancakes, French toast, soups, dips, salads, bread and a few sweet treats. Every session includes a healthy recipe.
We will share the work to create our dishes so there will be plenty of time to socialise and chat. We welcome participants who can attend independently, as well as those who may need a carer’s support to get the most out of the sessions.
We are also developing a set of picture recipes which we hope participants can use at home and will be asking for feedback on these during the sessions for those who are interested.
Covid-19 safety measures
This class takes place after 19th July when social distancing rules and other covid-related regulations are removed. If new restrictions are announced, we will adapt our procedures according to the latest government guidelines and any updates will be sent by email and listed on our website. Our Kitchen space continues to be kept to a very high standard of cleaning and hygiene regardless.
Note: If you are Clinically Extremely Vulnerable, current government advice recommends avoiding contact with unvaccinated people. Please note small venues cannot request or guarantee the vaccination status of everyone attending events, so please take this into consideration.
This project is funded by the Sussex Community Foundation.
