Good to Grow – older people’s gardening course
About this class

This 8-week course for older people gives the opportunity to help care for a beautiful garden, share a cuppa with others and get active outside.
The sessions enable participants to meet new friends whilst tending plants, sharing knowledge and learning about food growing and wildlife friendly gardening. Gardening is a wonderful way to help improve wellbeing and take time to notice nature as we head into the warmer months.
No experience or knowledge is required – the group is open to everyone from beginners to keen gardeners. The gardening activities are adaptable to a range of abilities and fitness levels. The garden is an accessible space, with bus stops nearby, is near to toilets and a cosy café if the weather is less than ideal.
This free group will meet for eight weeks on Thursday afternoons, 2-3.30pm, from 17th March 2022. Participants should ideally attend all eight sessions and must book their place in advance.
Participants must be aged 60+ and either living alone or living with a physical or mental health condition. Group members will need to have enough mobility to walk and stand unaided. Please consider that sturdy footwear, layers of clothing and a waterproof jacket will be needed.
