About this class

Join us for FOOD FOUNDATIONS to learn essential cookery skills and gain confidence – for those looking to work or volunteer in food or just cook tastier, healthier food at home.

Soup

Who’s this for? This course is for anyone who wants to gain confidence in the kitchen. We will be:

  • Learning and improving knife and kitchen skills
  • Gaining knowledge of flavours and ingredients
  • Growing in experience and confidence to create meals from surplus food and leftovers, making the most of what is available

Course structure:

We’ll spend five sessions (one session per week) at the Community Kitchen cooking in pairs and  building up skills making:

1) Soup and Bread
2) Curries
3) Salad and Dips
4) Pasta and Sauces
5) Baking

Dates:

  • Thursday 18th April, 10am-1pm
  • Thursday 25th April, 10am-1pm
  • Thursday 2nd May, 10am-1pm
  • Thursday  9th May, 10am-1pm
  • Friday 16th May, 10am-1pm

Application instructions

Who can attend?

People who are able to participate independently and attend an in person cookery session. Attendees must be either social housing residents, on benefits, or older people living alone or with a health condition.

To apply:

Please complete the form below to apply for a space on this course. If your application is successful we will respond to you around 3 weeks before the start of the course.

Cost:

We ask for a £5 donation per session (suggested), depending what you can afford. Speak to us if cost is a barrier. Payments can be made in cash at each session.
