Gujarati Indian Masterclass with Majahma – FUNDRAISER, ONE TICKET LEFT
About this class
This is a special, fundraising event and Nish and Roo from Majahma are donating their time to help raise funds for our community cookery groups. The event will also be co-hosted by our friend Chef Kanthi from Palmito/ the Spice Circuit. Thank you all for your support.
Snap up your chance to learn to make authentic & delicious food with an innovative local Indian food business. At this class, Nish and Roo will share with you a menu with its roots in the Gujarat region of India – a very traditional menu inspired by the food served at a Gujarati wedding.
During the session you will work in pairs to create a typical menu of:
- Ringra butetta nu shaak (aubergine and potato curry)
- Sambharo (spiced Indian cabbage and carrot stir-fry)
- Toor dal (split pigeon peas)
- Limbdo Bhat (curry leaf rice)
After you finish creating your dishes, Nish, Roo and Kanthi will join you at the table, alongside a specially matched wine as you enjoy your meal at the end of the Masterclass.
About Majahma
Majahma make all natural, flavour-packed, plant-based thalis delivered in an reusable stainless steel tiffins across Brighton, Hove & beyond. Majahma’s tiffin service has a rotating weekly set menu. Recipes have been passed from generation to generation, including modern regional Indian cuisine, and comforting home classics. Each menu takes you on a journey from the foothills of the Himalayas to the southern shores of Kerala.
Roo was the youngest of 8 siblings, and learned to cook for her family at age 10 in Uganda when her mum fell ill. Moving to Brighton to be closer to her son Nish. She would often make Nish and Pip (Nish’s wife) a flavour packed tiffin as a care package when they were working late. Soon more and more busy folk were keen for a beautiful night off, and Majahma was born. Starting Majahma with his dear mother, and sharing the food that he loved the most was a no-brainer! Nish has built a career in food operations, helping to grow local brands, Kate’s Cakes, Higgidy, and most recently sustainable condiments brand Rubies in the Rubble.
