About this class

This is a special, fundraising event and Bookie from Namo Eat is donating her time to help raise funds for our community cookery groups. Thank you all for your support.

thai foodBookie Mitchell, founder and owner of Namo Eat Thai Kitchen, returns to the Community Kitchen to share the art of aromatic and spicy Thai cooking she learned at her grandmother’s side.

She will pass on the secrets of achieving the distinctive balance of sour, sweet, salty, bitter and spicy flavours that are the hallmark of the best Thai cooking. Have your pestle and mortar at the ready for a very hands-on class, grinding your way to the perfect, authentic Thai dish.

During the session you will work in pairs to create a two-course meal:

  • Kaosoi: Northern style chicken curry with crispy egg noodles, pickled cabbage, shallots, fresh lime & chilli oil.
  • Yum Mamuang: Southern style mango salad with prawns, mango, mint, tomatoes, red onion, roasted cashew nuts, coconut flakes, fried shallots with hot & sour dressing.

After you finish creating your dishes, she will join you with a specially matched wine as you enjoy your meal at the end of this special Masterclass.

About Bookie & Namo Eat

bookie“I was born in the north of Thailand. I learnt to cook from a very young age in my grandma’s kitchen which I really enjoyed. I set up a restaurant in Brighton “Street Thai” while also running Thai cookery lessons for many years. In 2020 I started Namo Eat (Modern Thai street food) at The Eagle pub, offering quality, creative and delicious Thai food in Brighton & Hove. I am really proud that Namo Eat is voted in the top 30 best restaurants and mentioned by BBC Good Food for the best places to eat in Brighton. Tum Gab Kao Kun – Let’s cook!”
