Community Cookery groups

The Food Partnership have offered therapeutic food activities for people with dementia for over a decade. We are currently fundraising to continue these groups – find out more about our campaign & fundraising work to support people living with dementia.

Due to changes in funding, our garden group is on hold for 2025, but we have received a generous community donation to continue our cookery group until longer-term funding is found.

If you are interested in joining our cookery group, you can complete the application form below and we will contact you. Find out more about support & activities for people living with dementia in Brighton & Hove.

How it works

Participants and carers can join the groups directly, or be referred through professionals such as the Memory Assessment Service and Ageing Well Brighton & Hove. The sessions are suitable for those with mild to moderate dementia, or other memory issues, and a supportive family member or friend is welcome to attend alongside if needed. Sessions are delivered by skilled staff and trained volunteers.

I noticed an improvement since the beginning – she is more outgoing with other people and now initiates conversations… She is really happy… It has really helped her with socialising.

This project is funded by NHS Sussex through Ageing Well Brighton & Hove until 31st March 2025. From spring 2025 onwards, we are campaigning for funding to continue these groups – find out more about our campaign & fundraising work to support people living with dementia.

Cookery group

Our ‘Time to Cook’ cookery group for people with dementia runs at our cookery school in central Brighton.

Where: The Community Kitchen, 113 Queens Road, Brighton BN1 3XG

Gardening group

Our Gardening Group typically runs in the warmer months at The Garden House, but due to funding changes we are not planning to run the group in 2025. While this group is not able to run, we recommend the Growing Together, dementia-inclusive, sessions at Plot 22 Community Garden in Hove.
