Sesame and Chocolate Popcorn Bars

This recipe contains sesame however for a nut-free option follow our swaps.

 

Serves 4 people

Method

Line a medium size baking tray with baking parchment
(approximatively 28cm x 20cm x3cm deep). Place the popcorn in a large mixing bowl Toast the sesame seeds into a medium size frying pan over a moderate heat until they are brown, transfer them in a small bowl and put them aside. 

In the same frying pan heat the golden syrup on a low heat, add the sesame oil and mix well till they combine.  

Add the sesame seeds to the pan and stir well with a spatula (or wooden spoon) 

Carefully pour the hot mixture onto the popcorn and mix with a spatula Put the popcorn mix on to the lined tray, spread it and press firmly with the spatula to squash them down.

Break the chocolate bar into small pieces, place it into a microwavable bowl and melt it in the microwave for approx. 1 min  Brush the melted chocolate on top of the popcorn mixture Allow to set in the fridge then cut it into bars with a knife.

Prep Time: 5 minutes 

Cook Time: 10 minutes (plus cooling)

Packet of ready made popcorn, about 70g 

70g sesame seeds or sunflower seeds if nut-free 100g golden syrup or clear honey

2 tbsp sesame oil or vegetable oil if nut-free   100g dark chocolate
