Food Foundations (Community cookery course)- SPACES FILLED
About this class
Join us for FOOD FOUNDATIONS to learn essential cookery skills and gain confidence – for those looking to cook tastier, healthier food at home.

Who’s this for? This course is for anyone who meets the criteria below and wants to gain confidence in the kitchen. We will be:
- Learning and improving knife and kitchen skills
- Gaining knowledge of flavours and ingredients
- Growing in experience and confidence to create meals from surplus food and leftovers, making the most of what is available
Course structure:
We’ll spend five sessions (one session per week) at the Community Kitchen cooking in pairs and building up skills making:
1) One Pot Meals
2) Soup and Bread
3) Salads and Vegetables
4) Pasta, Rice and Pulses
5) Baking
Date (Note there is some blank weeks):
- Thursday 4th September 10am-1pm
- Thursday 11th September 10am-1pm
- Thursday 18th September 10am-1pm
- Thursday 2nd October 10am-1pm
- Thursday 9th October 10am-1pm

Application instructions
Who can attend?
People who are able to attend an in person cookery session. Attendees must be either social housing residents, receive a means-tested benefit, older people aged 50+ (must also meet another criteria on this list), have a long-term physical health condition or long-term mental health condition.

Cost:
We ask for a £5 donation per session (suggested), depending what you can afford. Speak to us if cost is a barrier. Payments can be made in cash at each session.
