Fundraiser – Mexican Supper Club with Xavier Buendia
About this event
Join us for a unique Supper Club with Xavier Buendia and help us raise money for our Primary Schools cookery project.
In this special evening we will explore Xav’s childhood and home of Mexico City through food.
There are 2 time slots available to choose from 5:30 – 7:00pm and 8:00 – 9:30pm.
Xav will be cooking a menu rooted in memory, re-creating dishes and flavours that he ate growing up in his grandma’s kitchen, at friends’ parties, and at home with his family.
Celebrate the end of term with us and support us in creating food memories for school children in our community.
We will be using meat for the class from our friends at Sussex Grazed, and fish from Brighton & Newhaven Fish Sales.
Dietary information:
- The menu for the evening contains meat and dairy.
- The menu is Gluten Free, however we cannot guarantee the Kitchen is a completely gluten free environment.
- This class is adaptable for a vegan diet but this must be specified when booking (there will be at least 2x vegan fillings and a range of toppings).
- For any other allergies or dietary requirements, please contact us to discuss before booking.
Tickets for this event include
- A range of delicious tacos including 2x vegan fillings and 2x meat or fish fillings.
- Salsas and delicious toppings for your tacos.
- An exciting starter inspired by Xav’s favourite dishes.
- A Tequila cocktail or non alcoholic alternative.
- Please note: This is a supper club not a cookery class, so expect delicious food, communal dining and a wonderful evening. You are welcome to BYOB to enjoy with your meal.
A huge thank you to Xav who is kindly donating his time to help raise funds for our school cookery group. Many schools no longer have cookery facilities on site to teach these vital life skills. We also find that leaving the classroom environment & learning from our skilled chefs can support children to try new foods and feel much more confident & independent – especially meaningful for children who may struggle in the classroom.
About the chef
Xav’s background is a beautiful mix of Mexican and Catalan, his parents and grandparents introduced him to all sorts of wonderful food from an early age and later he learned the importance of food and its heavy influence in both cultures. He worked in fine dining venues for over 10 years in Europe and America until started his photography career.
He is now an award-winning, internationally published photographer and creative director who photographs independent and family-owned restaurants, cafes, bars, vineyards, and drinks brands across Sussex and beyond.
